Johnson Law Office's General Legal Representation
The Johnson Law Office strives to serve the complete legal needs of each of our clients by offering legal services in a broad range of practice areas. Our practice areas range from business and real estate services to estate planning and the review of employment contracts. In addition to bankruptcy and personal injury legal services, we practice in the following areas:
- Mortgage law and closings. We are fully experienced in preparing and performing mortgage closings. We can review documents, prepare deeds, HUD statements and settlement statements, and conduct title exams.
- Contract disputes, negotiation and drafting. We are experienced in drafting and reviewing all types of business contracts, including non-compete agreements, employment contracts, leases, and buy/sell and purchase agreements.
- Arbitration and Mediation. Attorney Todd Johnson is also an approved arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly NASD) and offers alternative dispute resolution services in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
- Estate planning. We offer full estate and probate services, including the preparation of wills, medical powers of attorney, advanced healthcare directives, living wills and trusts.
- LLC business formation. If you have a business idea and wish to open a LLC (limited liability company), we offer experienced services in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
- Deed preparation. Deeds are most often used as the method of transferring title to real estate from one person to another and do not necessarily involve financial transactions or mortgage closings. If you need a deed drafted, reviewed or filed, call us.
- Debt Collection litigation: Collection agencies have a tough job and sometimes cross the lines to try to make their job easier. These over-the-line collection activities should not go without consequenses. Laws such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ("FDCPA") and the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act ("WVCCPA") were enacted to help protect those who are being victimized and harrassed by unscrupulous debt collectors.
- Debt Negotiation and Settlement: Some people who are in debt cannot or do not want to file for bankruptcy. The Johnson Law Office has successfully negotiated substantial lump sum settlements for many past clients. Clients must be able to build up the necessary funds to make the lump sum payment(s). Clients should be aware that you often must report the amount you saved as income on your tax return. Of course, it is always financially beneficial to settle a debt than to pay it in full.
